Every relationship experiences difficult periods. You may be having the same arguments, struggling to communicate, rebuilding trust or feeling more disconnected than you once did.
Couples counselling provides a supportive, non-judgmental space where both partners can feel heard, understood and respected. Together, we’ll explore the patterns affecting your relationship and develop practical ways to communicate more safely, repair after conflict and reconnect.

What happens in ongoing couples counselling sessions?
Ongoing sessions focus on the goals we identify together. We may explore recurring relationship patterns, practise healthier communication, work through conflict or disconnection, rebuild trust and develop practical ways to respond differently to each other.
Sessions are active and collaborative. You will both have opportunities to share your experiences, better understand each other and practise new skills.
Will we have anything to work on between sessions?
Yes. I may provide practical exercises, new communication practices or worksheets tailored to your relationship. Couples counselling is most effective when both partners are willing to practise what we explore outside the counselling room.
Creating healthier relationship patterns takes time, consistency and a shared commitment to doing the work between sessions, not only talking about it during appointments.
How long will we need couples counselling?
There is no set number of sessions, as every relationship and situation is different. Some couples attend for a shorter period to address a specific concern, while others benefit from longer-term support when patterns are more established or trust has been significantly affected.
Sessions are 60 minutes and are generally scheduled weekly or fortnightly, depending on your needs. We will regularly review your progress together and discuss when you feel ready to reduce or finish counselling.
What to expect
Your first couples session gives each of you an opportunity to share your perspective, explain what has brought you to counselling and discuss what you hope to achieve in your relationship. Together, we will begin identifying your concerns, strengths and shared goals for counselling.
Following the initial session, I meet with each partner individually. This provides space to explore more about you, your relationship history, family background and the experiences that may influence how you communicate, respond to conflict and experience the relationship.
We then come back together to develop a clearer understanding of the patterns affecting your relationship and decide what we will work towards. I am here to support both of you—without judgement or taking sides—as you create healthier patterns and work towards the relationship you want.
